In my new role as MARINE (Monterey Area Research Institutions Network for Education) liaison for UC Santa Cruz, I’ve been tasked with recruiting grads and post-docs who are interested in improving their leadership, communication, collaboration and decision-making skills. We’re planning some great seminars, workshops, short-courses and networking events for this year – all with the goal of exposing marine scientists to skills necessary to tackle real-world ocean challenges in the research, management and policy arenas.
